Light and Shade on Form
These are the types of things that Tom likes around
the studio. They are great to draw or
paint to stay sharp when you don't have a live model.
Tom showed some of the basic shapes and forms one can
get at the hardware store that can
be useful for studying light and shade. For these PVC
pieces he has painted some of them
flat grey or flat white to compare how they reflect
light.
Tom showed the class his set up that he uses outdoors
while doing color studies like this one
of the then Governor
of Georgia, Zell Miller. This was a preliminary
study in prerparation for
the larger canvas.
